"I'm a great grandmother for most of the students," said Sallie Luedtke, a woman who's certainly made a difference at Saint Ignatius College Prep. The school's in her blood - literally and figuratively.
She is the granddaughter of Joseph Frank Turk 1883. Her husband, Jack '52, is also a member of the Wolfpack. 在一起, they raised three children, 约翰85年, Mark '86 and Sara '91, who walked the school's storied halls, 太. So you can understand why Luedtke gave so much of her time and talent to Saint Ignatius.
The woman who enjoyed taking Rice Krispie treats to soccer games, was also the Mother's Club President. During her time in that role, she led the group and a corps of volunteers who raised $120,000 for the 120th anniversary of the building of the school. 但这还不是全部.
"It was interesting,吕特克说, "We foresaw it shouldn't be just a Mother's Club. It should be a 父母' Club." And so that's what it became - a group for moms AND dads of students.
夫人. Luedtke says she's grateful to have participated in some of the very meaningful milestones in her kids' formation and education. Kairos stands out in the realm of experiences.
"Through the people, my Faith grew," she said, "My kids' education enriched my spiritual life. I learned from Saint Ignatius as my kids were learning."
Her children went on to Jesuit colleges. You likely know her middle child, now, as 校友 Chaplain, Fr. Mark Luedtke, S.J.他是一名数学老师.
"I've supported the Jesuits wherever Mark has been," she said.
A caregiver for her husband, 夫人. Luedtke still makes time for Saint Ignatius College Prep. She's particularly fond of Adult Formation's Lectio Divina, a Scripture meeting over Zoom on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Coming back to campus is a joy, as well.
"I 爱 watching it grow and change,吕特克说, "It's an exciting place, and it's great to see how it's gotten better and better."
She's been a big part of that positive evolution - one of the reasons Sallie Luedtke is this year's Golden Rose Award Honoree. The Saint Ignatius College Prep 女性的社会 presents the award at its signature dinner.
That's May 4, from 5:30 to 8:30 in Tully Hall.
Tickets are available right up through the event. We hope you'll join us in celebrating Sallie Luedtke!
